“If I can speak for my Ventura County colleagues and clients - we’re scared for our communities and for ourselves as workers. Any layoffs that may occur due to H.R. 1 could mean families in crises will have devastatingly long waits for food and emergency help. My colleagues and I will have major workload increases on both the MediCal and CalFRESH side. In some cases, we may see our work double or triple. Additionally, clients will need help navigating the new work requirements and time limits.

We must be properly resourced to do this work. Lives depend on it. Our communities depend on us - the workers.”
